Expect the Unexpected

When it comes to decor I have learned to expect the unexpected, and lets be honest that is what keeps it interesting and exciting! When I or someone else achieves these moments and for hardly any money I get so excited!!!! I figured I would share with you a little show and tell moment of a blog called Freshly Picked that I stumbled across a few weeks ago. I thought this DIY was so genius that I wanted to share it with all of you! When I first looked at it I thought it was a trendy Capiz Chandelier and then I was shockified ;.) to read on and see that she actually made this chandelier out of wax paper circles and for 9 buckaroos! I was so impressed!!! I am dying to try something like this, but I am going to have to wait until my plate is cleared a little before I take on anymore! Click here for the how to!
I  didn't expect that it was made out of wax paper and for so cheapO! Which makes it so UBER fabulous!!!! So I was inspired to create a lamp shade of my own to dress up a little lamp I had given to me by my grandmother (for our bathroom makeover). We use it as a little night light since the bathroom is down our hall ;.) so I didn't want a shade to constrict too much of the light from getting through since it was such a small bulb. So this is what I came up with and the cost was FREE for me because I had the supplies laying around. However, I do believe you can buy beads like the ones I used inexpensive at a craft store.
Isn't she fun? I took an old chandelier shade I had collecting dust in the basement (yes confession time I have decor collecting dust...those who know me may be shocked...take a moment it's ok ;.) I completely ripped off all of the fabric and glue from the metal form. I then sprayed the form with left over spray paint and then attached some glass beads I had with wire to the form in the pattern I wanted. I love it because it allows for a lot of light and because there was no fabric on the actual shade, I felt like it was an unexpected decor moment for the bathroom.

This is a little better picture of the glow she casts! I just love it! It's a great way to use my Grandmothers lamp *SHOUT out to MIMI ;.) but with an updated shade which allowed me to be creative. The best of both worlds peeps! Where do you have unexpected decor moments in your house? Do you have a pillow made out of something different, or a table painted a fun color? I want to hear about it!
