In my previous "before being a mommy- life" I was actually a professional organizer (yes we do exisit hahah) as well as a home stager for real estate. I had my own little company called Clutter to Classy in the DC/MD area and I enjoyed rockin the old boss title. It was a really fun job..... well fun for those of us who find sorting collectables into categories, color coordinating our clothes & putting organization systems into place. I found it to be enjoyable and exhilirating...and I admit that is a little wierd.....haha. So with all the chaos of putting the house on the market you know I was excited to find time to stage the house properly, getting it ready to show is one of my favorite steps! Even though a lot of this work was done at night after the little man was asleep, I still found it to be one of the most important things you can do when getting ready to show your house....so I thought I would share a few staging tips and for those of you not moving, they are the same tips I try to use when staging the house for pictures.
*First & foremost, second to making sure the house is clean, you must make sure it smells clean & homey & looks fresh...How do I do that? By baking & placing flower arrangments...
*Always make sure your windows are clean to let in as much light as possible ;.)
* Don't be afraid to use items for a different purpose...for example..
*Clear the clutter & set the stage.... dont be afraid to use apron's, books, lemons...etc...(items used daily) to show someone living there & REMOVE more personal items such as photos and collections.
* So there are just a few tips I learned over the past few years. I hope they help someone out there ;.) This is what we are currently working on, staging...oh & taking time to do things that are close to home that we have never done before..like a family drive thru a safari park in VA...
***disclaimer...my spellcheck wouldn't work during this post for some reason, so please excuse my errors ;.) today is just one of those....mispelling kind of days haha.
