Here is a little of the back story...Right before the Hubs and I made our way to the West Coast, we found ourselves making a trip to visit family in Texas. While staying at my grandmother's house (shout out to Mimi) three generations of women huddled around little plastic baggies filled with my Great Aunt's- Mother in-laws old vintage jewelry (I know little bit of a mind trip) haha. After a few hours of laughing and visiting and digging through backless earrings or missing jeweled brooches, some good stuff found its way into my pile of take homes. I wasn't too sure what I was going to do with them until I saw these on Pinterest one day...
Thanks to Somerset Studio for the picture ;.)

& I thought they were sort of fantastic! So over the weekend I made two of my own for some books on my shelves. Here is what I came with...
All it took was some ribbon I had laying around, some hem tape, an iron, and a vintage earring and brooch. I used the hem tape and iron to create a clean edge to the ribbon to secure the jewelry to. The cost was free and it gave me something to do with those pieces of jewelry I scored on that wonderful afternoon of sitting around the table. ;.) okay, now I am off to take some medicine and hit the pillow....
Happy Monday to you all and well wishes to those of you who fought the storm over the weekend ;.)

Being a librarian and therefore a super book nerd, I'm totally in love with these! Now on my to-do-diy list!
These are fabulous! Makes me want to drag out my box of old "jewels" and make some!
Feel better soon - does knowing you brightened someone's day with these bookmarks make you feel any better? Will be looking next weekend for pieces I could use for these when I go junking. Thanks for the cool idea.
Love this clever idea Courtney! Feel better soon! xo
Wow! I am thinking teacher's gifts, friend gifts, etc. for Christmas and other such occasions when you would give a gift to multiple people - you would want them not all alike (which would be easy with these bookmarks) but also nothing too costly. Also something not everyone else is going to give. Great idea - thanks! I never fail to get inspired on this blog.
