Standing Tall

Yay!!! Part one of the entry way overhaul is complete...The Hutch is lookin' mighty fine (with it's muted orange cardboard inserts with the white stencil I painted over it). Click HERE for the detailed how-to of this hutch transformation. It truly gives the feel of wallpaper in the back of the shelving. I love walking in the door and being greeted by all of my favorite books, pictures, trinkets, & collections. I finished staging the shelves yesterday & touching up the Chinchilla Grey that the actual hutch is painted...It suffered a few bumps & bruises during the move. So now here she is, looking a little sassy with all of her flair. It may be too busy for some people, but it makes my heart happy, and at the end of the day it's what tickles your fancy & makes you feel at home that is the key to design success. Let me know what you think ;.)

Total project cost was less than $20 which made it even more fun for this budget conscious gal ;.) I am relieved this project is finished and now I can concentrate on something else in my noggin'..This was something I have wanted to do for a while & now I am glad to see it come to life...well, at least until I want to re-do it again ;.) I just tell the hubs that's what keeps the world goin' round! Have a great afternoon you crazy kids!

I am linking up to these fun & creative websites...check out some of their projects ;.) & don't forget to check out some of my other daily posts ;.) Happy creating!

  4. using the cardboard for the backing was a brilliant idea! the subtle texture of it is actually really interesting, with the paint job it almost looks like you used vintage wallpaper! very, very cool effect behind your objects.

  8. Love that color combination. The orange stencil background really makes it pop. Good job! I also like that sunburst-type mirror sneaking in the background. Where did you get it? They can be pretty pricey these days. Have a blessed weekend!

  9. Thanks so much! The mirror is from homegoods and was a steal at $79. When I lived close to one I used to stalk it quite often to grab the good stuff like that mirror :.)

  24. I showed a pic of this on my blog, as inspiration for my own bookshelf redo. I also used cardboard as the backing, done a little differently!
