Picture perfect Holiday weekend

Welcome back! I hope you all had a fun-filled holiday weekend. Today's lil' decor project is one that might come in handy for those holiday weekend photos you're not sure what to do with ;.)

I don't know about you, but lately I have been in love with photo walls with family photos on canvas. The problem is that a lot of websites online that sell you canvas photos charge a lot per image, making it not such a fun financial task to order multiple images. So I came across this awesome how-to on a creative blog called sarahs projects (major shout out to Sarah, you had a fantastic idea!).

Here is how you can make your own photo canvas. (I got lucky and purchased a canvas on sale this past weekend for $7 and the rest of the supplies I had on hand, so overall the project was pretty cheap-o!)

Here is what you will need:
White tissue paper
a canvas (any size up to 8x10)
a piece of printer card stock
tape
scissors
& your handy dandy computer/printer ;.)

Step 1: Edit the image you want to use and size it. I made mine an 8 x 10 canvas.
Step 2: lay out the tissue paper and place the card stock on top of it. You are going to cut around the card stock leaving a small border so you can tape the tissue paper onto the card stock.
Step 3: Tape the tissue paper onto the back of the card stock so that you can feed the tissue paper through the printer as if it's a regular piece of paper. It looks like this after it is taped. *Thanks to the Hubs for being my hand model!
step 4: Anxiously and excitedly wait for your image to print....;.)
Step 5: Let dry for quite a while. I actually laid mine in the sunlight just to make sure it was extra dry.
*** Don't worry, your image is going to look very wrinkly ...this is not a problem ;.)
Step 6: You then coat your canvas with Mod Podge (VERY lightly) and prepare to place the image. Once you put the picture down, work your way from the middle out to the edges smoothing out the wrinkles and bubbles. This step made me a nervous Nelly but surprisingly came out okay.
step 7: Then all that's left to do is trim up the edges of the unglued tissue paper and hang to enjoy ;.)

Super fun right? I love it so much that I am now going crazy thinking of all the images I can do this too. I just love it! Ohhh and if you want have a little bit of fun you can even do something like this...
Here at the Schutz household we don't take ourselves too seriously so this is PERFECT! ;.) Have a great Tuesday everyone, yay for short weeks!
