Happy Monday everybody! I am so excited October is here! Productive things happened here over the weekend at the Schutz household. I am getting our family ready to head to Texas this week for my 10 year high school reunion as well as my lil' guy's first birthday party! So things are a little crazy of here... to say the least. But, I just couldn't resist doing a little decorative DIY before we left town for Oliver's bedroom.
As he has gotten older and his hands have become little hooks to help him crawl up the side of his crib and his mattress has become his first personal trampoline, the height of the mattress has been lowered making it harder for him to escape the island. So my bed skirt from the original nursery no longer fit our needs. So I made a new one...It was such a fun and inexpensive change. But here is my little secret, I make a no sew bed skirt. I have found this same trick to be amazing for table runners and other miscellaneous projects around the house. I wanted to share how I did it in case you weren't familiar with the amazing thing known as, no Sew hem tape (which is possibly the most fantastic thing and by far one of my best friends)! Here is how the bed looks now with the new skirt...
Step 1: measure from the bottom of the mattress to the desired length you want it. I wanted mine to touch the floor.
Step 4: Make sure when you are ironing your hemmed edge that you follow the directions on the label. *You must iron over a damp rag to help adhere the tape.
I hope this little tip rocks your socks off like it does mine. I can't wait to see you guys tomorrow! Happy Monday! Wish me luck on my to-do list.
