Happily homemade....

Ever since the Hubs and I have gotten married we have lived far away from "home" which is Texas. So we find ourselves every year visiting the post office around holiday time and sending a lil' somethin' somethin' to the fam. This year we wanted something to send back that was symbolic of our new life here in California. So, we sent homemade apple butter made with the apples from our backyard...Collected, cooked, and jarred with love.

This is the recipe we used. (However, we did add a hint of apple pie spice and less allspice and a tad bit more sugar including some brown sugar.) Seriously, using the crock pot was a lifesaver. It may seem simple but it was just a little way we could say Merry Christmas! I really feel like homemade gifts sometimes feel like the best gifts ever! I hope you guys are having a great week. I am so excited that my "to-do" list is quickly becoming a "to-done" list. Happy Wednesday everybody!

  1. You are so right about home made gifts being the best gifts!!! I would take em over anything store bought any day......wait unless the box was turquoise...then maybe I would have to think bout I def love the feeling of a "to done" list!! I hope you and your cute lil fam have a great Christmas....I'm sure its so much fun with the lil guy!! xo Joanna D.
