Make your heart happy

It's my favorite day of the week. It's Valentine project day. I can't help it. I just love working with everything sparkly, pink, girly, & lovey dovey and let's be honest that's my favorite part of this holiday. So yesterday I not only spent the afternoon being mommy to my truck pushing, peach eating, mickey mouse dancin' little boy but I also spent the afternoon playing with tissue paper, glue, and a heart I purchased from Michaels for $1.

For this project you will need scissors, glue, tissue paper and...

I simply tied the string around the heart so it could be hung up after I finished covering it with tissue paper. I found that using Elmer's glue was fine as long as I used the metallic tissue paper (because it's heavier) on top of the final layer of tissue so that the glue wouldn't show through.

Most of my time on the project was spent on the next step.

Then it was just a matter of layering your heart.

And you are left with something quite beautiful.

I really loved the texture & if Olly hadn't grown into an Octopus with 8 hands then I would have made some more. The color combos were endless and at $1 per heart I couldn't beat it. I hope this little project makes its way into some of your homes this Valentine's day. Have a great day and don't forget to check out House of Fifty magazine today. I'm on pages 125 & 139. So exciting!

I love to hear your thoughts lovelies! Comment away!
