First I must say a huge CONGRATS to our two garnish giveaway winners Dacia & Susan. I hope you both get to throw a special event or party with some fun goodies from garnish.
Speaking of party...today is a big day! It's my grandmother's birthday and I cannot tell you how thankful I am that she was born. Last year we celebrated her with our little guy who was so teenie tiny and a special butterfly cake at our own garden party.
This year we would love to wish her a very special birthday fit for a garden Queen with her very own flower cake.
This little lemon cake was decorated with white chocolate shavings and the easiest cake topper ever. I cut some flowers from the garden, rinsed them off and let them dry to give this little cake some punch of color. I DID NOT stick them directly on the cake. I used a plastic lid from a to-go container on the top of the cake and put the flowers on them (no worries it's covered by the flowers and won't be seen). They will not last for long without water, so I recommend doing it right before serving your guests. You want to know another secret? The little bud vase is an empty vanilla bottle cleaned out. It's always the simple things that seem to make up such a beautiful moment. That is also who my grandmother is. She is such a beautiful woman who has taught me to embrace the little things.
Have a happy Wednesday in her honor. Love you Mimi! Happy Birthday!
