I recycled some small fabric bags I've gotten from Anthropologie and gave them a new look. I get them for free any time I purchase a pair of sunglasses or a piece of jewelry. They come home and sit untouched in my jewelry drawer and I thought it was about time these ladies got a little makeover and made an appearance on this trip. So they got down with some watercolors over the weekend. And now I love them so much.
I really had no idea what would happen when I started to paint on the fabric but felt like I had nothing to lose since they were free. I slipped a piece of watercolor paper inside the bag so it wouldn't bleed through to the other side. However, I did end up painting both sides. I also painted three separate coats and kept playing around with the colors. It was sort of addicting. Overall, I am pretty thrilled to have three of these little babies accompany me on the trip. I may use them for different things or give one or two away as a gift to other gals going on the trip. We'll see if I can separate from them.
What have you recycled lately? I love a good recycled project.
