I have this really sweet friend in town who has been showing me what it means to be a local. She takes me to amazing places that I otherwise wouldn't know about and introduces me to wonderful people. This week we went to listen to Kermit Ruffins & The BBQ Swingers (an amazing band from New Orleans) in a gorgeous venue with exposed brick walls and beautiful chandeliers. As a little thank you I decided to put a flower arrangement together for her, using only flowers from my garden.
I find that arranging flowers can sometimes be tricky and intimidating. Especially when they are coming from my yard and not being picked out at the store. I have found it easiest to work in odd numbers, to section off a grid like pattern with tape for best flower placement and to use whatever I can to add height so it looks more substantial. This eclectic mix of garden roses and hydrangeas turned out beautiful and smelled lovely. Very deserving of their new home with a sweet friend.
I hope you all had a fantastic week and took a little time to stop and smell the roses as well. What fun things are y'all doing this weekend?
