Well, it's official, I'm in love. Have you ever been so head over heels for a project before that you can't think of anything else? ...Because these days I am walking around utterly smitten.
I was recently asked to help a friend with the first 'farm to table' dinner at Table Top Farm. This special fall event is being hosted by a small group of people. These talented individuals make hard work infectious and being around them has helped me to uncover layers of creativity and inspiration I failed to realize existed. Twenty guests of the farm will gather out in the field below towering trees and beautiful pale lights. They'll be breaking bread (no not breaking bad), embracing delicious food grown from the farm & coming together as a community. I'm not sure it gets much better than that. It makes me want to pinch myself because I can't believe I get to help with such a unique & unforgettable evening. But then I don't, because let's face it, that would hurt.
I spent the day yesterday visiting the farm. I spent most of the time there daydreaming of ball jars filled with poppies, menu cards waiting at each place setting for the guests, and a crystal chandelier draped from tree branches above. I imagine pumpkins and squash, the cool October air, and laughter echoing throughout the trees and across a candlelit table. It's just such a charming place that has the most inviting energy.
There were rows of plump strawberries, leafy greens, ripening tomatoes, beets and the most beautiful array of flowers, all of which were undeniably drool-worthy. It is truly this farm gal's idea of paradise. Being that I grew up on our family farm, I have missed the taste of homegrown veggies & the power that the sun has over my freckles at the end of a long day getting lost outside.
I will keep you guys updated, but I just couldn't wait to talk about it because I am feeling so excited for such a great opportunity. Have any of you ever been to a 'farm to table' dinner? If so, do tell. I need all the tips I can get.
See you lovelies on Monday.
