The quiet lady: An art story

Well....there is a new lady in my life. I wasn't expecting to find her on a normal trip to Goodwill last week, but it happened. And after $1.99 happily spent, she was able to come home with me. And you know me, I was giddy...I love a good cheap find.

I normally scour the picture section of Goodwill for hopes of finding inexpensive frames, mirrors or canvases that can be painted over. I was not anticipating actually finding art to use 'as is' (because let's be real. Most times they are landscapes, 80's art, or unbelievably awkward cat prints...am I right?!) This particular quiet lady isn't everyone's pick for art, however, she fits in around here perfectly and the grey colors are spot on. Take a peek and meet the lovely lady herself.

She's kind of creepy-cool, right?! For now she is living above my desk space in the kitchen. I am thinking of moving her to the entry hutch shelves but this will do for now.

Have you ever scored an awesome deal at Goodwill??? It's the best feeling ever!

Hope you had a fantastic weekend and I look forward to seeing you all on Wednesday.

  2. I have yet to score any amazing art at Goodwill, but I need to get better about being patient and flipping through everything that is there. Yours is a great find! Well done you.

  3. Nice find. Once I found two miniature cast iron "Snowbabies". I paid 98 cents for them. Any thrift shop I visit is like an adventure, you never know what you are going to find. Blessings :O)

  4. I recognized the artist immediately. This painting was done by Amedeo Clemente Modigliani. He was an Italian painter and sculptor who worked mainly in France. He is known for portraits and nudes in a modern style characterized by elongation of faces and figures. I Googled Modigliani to see if an image of your painting came up, but I didn't see it. Google Modigliani "Images" and you'll see the resemblance to his other ladies.
